This demands considerable patience and know-how in order to make fine wines. Hence really good wines have only been made in Umbria again during the past thirty years. The best known of them is the white Orvieto, but since Giorgio Lungarotti became involved in the family business, it has been mainly the red wines of Umbria that have been carrying off the prizes. Thanks in part to Lungarotti, two red Italian wines from here have been added to the elite of DOCG wines.
